Transport for London
Acton plus London-wide travel
£40,000 - £45,000
Ready to play a big part in our future?
London has the largest, busiest and one of the most modern mass transit systems in the world. And behind its operation is TfL. A place where history meets cutting edge technology, we have extensive experience of tackling the transport needs of what is a truly diverse and populous capital city, head on. We also have one of the largest online and F2F learning libraries of any organisation within the UK. Join us, and quite simply you’ll be fundamental in delivering our next generation of rail engineers to meet future demand across the network.
You’ll be pivotal to the success of our engineering apprenticeships.
This is a genuinely exciting opportunity to deliver the Internal Verification requirements for London Underground engineering apprenticeships. Indeed, we’ll rely on you to ensure the timely completion of programmes whilst maintaining external verification standards to ensure retention of awarding body accreditation. Definitely no desk job, you’ll regularly be out and about across the LU network as you help us meet the legislative requirements of the government’s apprenticeship strategy and Enterprise Act targets. You’ll also be able to shape the role to suit both yours and the business’s requirements.
The team’s just gained Training Provider status through the ESfA, so you’ll be part a newly shaped organisation too, where innovation and creativity are both welcomed and encouraged. In summary, you’ll work with an experienced and enthusiastic team with a passion for delivering fantastic apprentices and apprenticeships at a time of really significant change.
You’ll need a broad range of skills and expertise
In-depth knowledge of NVQ process and lead body requirements is a given, with an understanding of Apprenticeship Frameworks and Standards, their qualifications and structure a plus. We’ll also be looking for a proven track record of assessment and verification processes across an engineering based organisation. The ability to design for, or manage different learning needs is essential too, as is experience of evaluating learning interventions at all levels and bringing in projects on time.
A natural at coaching and mentoring others effectively, you have highly developed observation and feedback skills too. What’s more, you have an excellent understanding of the relevant safety legislation and processes and how they impact on the learner, together with proven learner and assessor-centred learning delivery skills (including training, coaching, facilitation, e-learning). And, when it comes to thinking creatively and providing multiple potential solutions to meet a learning need, again, you deliver. Please note that this role involves working some night shifts when required.
The rewards are as impressive as your achievements
In return for your expertise, along with the knowledge that you’ll be playing a vital role, we can offer an excellent benefits package including final salary pension scheme and a generous holiday entitlement of 30 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays. You can make significant savings on travel thanks to a free Oyster Card travel pass; 75% discount on national rail season ticket and interest free loan; and discounted travel on the Eurostar. You can also choose to take advantage of a discounted private healthcare scheme, tax-efficient childcare payments, and a host of retail, health, leisure and travel offers.
