The Manchester College is seeking an experienced ESOL Maths Lecturer to join the ESOL department at its Wythenshawe Campus on a full-time basis for the full academic year.

This is an exciting opportunity to support ESOL learners by delivering high-quality Maths teaching, primarily focused on Functional Skills Mathematics Level 1 and Level 2, with a small amount of GCSE Mathematics (Edexcel) delivery.

The successful candidate will be passionate about supporting learners from diverse backgrounds and helping them develop the mathematical skills, confidence and qualifications needed to progress in education and employment.

Role Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging and effective Functional Skills Mathematics lessons at Levels 1 and 2.
• Deliver a small amount of GCSE Mathematics (Edexcel) teaching.
• Plan, prepare and deliver high-quality learning sessions.
• Assess learner progress and provide timely, constructive feedback.
• Support ESOL learners to achieve positive outcomes and reach their full potential.
• Monitor attendance, progress and achievement.
• Maintain accurate learner records in line with college requirements.
• Promote an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
• Contribute to departmental quality improvement activities.

Essential Requirements

• Previous experience teaching Functional Skills Mathematics Level 1 and Level 2.
• Previous Further Education Maths teaching experience.
• Ability to deliver GCSE Mathematics.
• Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, DET, DTLLS or equivalent).
• Strong classroom management and communication skills.
• Experience supporting learners from a variety of backgrounds and abilities.
• Enhanced DBS certificate available for review.

Desirable Requirements

• Experience teaching within an ESOL setting.
• Understanding of the challenges and support needs of ESOL learners.
• Experience working within a Further Education college environment.

Important Information

To be considered for this position, candidates must:

• Have recent Further Education Maths teaching experience.
• Be confident delivering Functional Skills Mathematics Level 1 and Level 2.
• Hold a recognised teaching qualification.
• Have an Enhanced DBS certificate available.
