Interim Financial Accountant

Robert Half is supporting a well-established organisation in Plymouth in the search for an Interim Financial Accountant to join the finance team on a short-term technical assignment.

This is a focused project centred on reviewing the organisation's SORP implementation, specifically around Revenue Accounting, with findings and recommendations to be presented at board level. The role is ideally suited to someone who enjoys a discrete, high-visibility technical brief rather than a broad BAU finance position.

Key Responsibilities

• Review current revenue accounting treatment against updated SORP requirements

• Assess existing processes and identify any system or control changes required for compliance

• Prepare clear technical recommendations for board-level approval

• Support the wider finance team during the year-end period

• Work independently to deliver outcomes within a tight project timeframe

About You

• Fully qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA

• Strong technical accounting background, ideally with practice, audit or financial accounting experience

• Previous exposure to SORP, FRS 102, or revenue recognition / income recognition

• Experience within Higher Education, Further Education, Charity, Not-for-Profit or Public Sector environments would be highly advantageous

• Able to operate with minimal supervision and deliver at pace

• Immediately available or available at short notice
