Private Client Advisor
Private Client Advisor Permanent Full-Time Suffolk or London
We are working with a well-established professional services organisation seeking a Private Client Advisor to join their specialist team. This is a broad-ranging role covering will drafting, lasting powers of attorney, and full estate administration, with significant client interaction.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality trustee and executorship services while building long-term relationships with clients and their families.
Key Responsibilities
Will Writing
- Drafting Wills and related documents based on client instructions received via email, telephone, or meetings (in person or virtual).
- Discussing instructions and responding to technical queries from clients and professional advisors, both in writing and at meetings.
- Maintaining accurate and compliant records relating to Wills.
- Processing will-writing fees.
- Managing queries and correspondence relating to inoperative will appointments.
- Reviewing existing Wills and advising on updates where appropriate.
Lasting Powers of Attorney
- Drafting Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPAs) based on client instructions.
- Liaising with clients, family members, and advisors to discuss instructions and address queries.
- Registering, administering, and overseeing appointments where a corporate trustee is acting as Attorney under an Enduring Power of Attorney (EPA), and managing all matters arising as a result.
- Assisting with reviews of existing LPAs.
Executorships & Estate Administration
You will handle estate administration matters from initial notification of death through to final completion, including:
- Meeting with bereaved families and providing guidance throughout the administration process.
- Arranging property insurance and appointing solicitors where required.
- Preparing information to support probate applications.
- Liaising with investment managers, tax specialists, and wealth planning teams as appropriate.
- Advising beneficiaries on inheritance tax matters, making distributions, and arranging payments to HMRC.
- Collecting in estate assets and preparing estate accounts, allocation statements, and R185 certificates.
- Ensuring records are well maintained and easily accessible.
- Developing strong family relationships and identifying opportunities to retain assets and introduce new business.
Skills & Experience
- Sound knowledge of wills and lasting powers of attorney, with practical experience in these areas.
- Awareness of post-death tax planning opportunities, including Deeds of Variation.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to deal sensitively and professionally with bereaved clients.
- Confidence handling estates comprising a wide range of asset types.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to keep beneficiaries, co-executors, and trustees informed both verbally and in writing.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise competing matters effectively.
- Commercial awareness and the ability to recognise and progress new business opportunities appropriately.
- Full STEP qualified or progressing towards their studies. Additional support and funding are available (desirable)
