We are looking for Development consultants to join our team of of Engineering & Manufacturing Associates and our growing network of associates.
This role gives you the opportunity to work with City & Guilds alongside your current job, to build additional income with competitive daily rates and contribute to expanding your skills and development.
Development Consultants have one of the most wide-ranging roles of all City & Guilds Associates, with the possibility of being involved in many different parts of the qualification and assessment development process. Some of the key roles and responsibilities that you may conduct are:
- Scoping qualification content – e.g., qualification and unit structures, rules of combinations, assessment design
- Writing unit content
- Drafting assessments and sample assessment materials – e.g., multiple-choice question papers, knowledge tests, practical assessments, professional discussions, portfolios of evidence
- Reviewing and amending assessments as part of reviewing panels or as a scrutineer
- Reviewing the mapping of content against standards or other qualifications
The Role Profile defines the responsibilities and expectations of a Development Consultant and person specification outlines the expectations of the role and the experience that we are looking for someone to have as a Development Consultant.
Experience of delivering 2850 - Diploma in Engineering at levels 1 - 3 and Industrial experience and experience of writing assessments would be an advantage.
We are looking for experience across Engineering & Manufacturing with a particular focus on the areas below:

- 2850 209 Assembling and maintaining fluid power systems
Level 3
- Unit 306 Principles of engineering maintenance, installation and commissioning
- Unit 309 Principles of shipbuilding
- Unit 316 Pattern development for fabrication
- Unit 317 Maintenance of machine systems
- Unit 318 Maintenance of utility systems
- Unit 319 Maintenance of plant services
- Unit 320 Maintenance of hydraulic systems
- Unit 321 Maintenance of pneumatic systems
- Unit 322 Power generation systems and ancillary equipment
- Unit 332 Mechatronics systems principles and fault finding
- Unit 333 Computer automated and robotic systems principles and control
- Unit 334 Power supply, and analogue and digital circuit principles and fault finding
- Unit 335 Electronic power control principles and practice
- Unit 339 Principles of composite materials
- Unit 340 Principles of composites manufacture
Development work is dynamic and shaped by a range of factors. Specific timelines and activities therefore cannot always be confirmed in advance of the recruitment process. If you are selected as an associate, the City & Guilds Development team will contact you with further details on expected tasks, timescales and how you may be involved.
As part of your role, you will receive contextualized training for each development that you are involved in, and will be expected to attend online, face-to-face meetings as well as taking on some remote activities.
