Management Accountant - Grants & Research Finance

Hertfordshire Hybrid Working Up to £45,000

SRM Recruitment are partnering with an established organisation in Hertfordshire to recruit a Management Accountant with strong grants, funding and/or research finance experience.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who combines solid management accounting capability with experience of working within a grant-funded, research, charity, not-for-profit or similarly funded environment.

The role

Working as part of the wider finance team, responsibilities will include:

• Management accounting and month-end reporting
• Financial management of grants and externally funded projects
• Monitoring expenditure against approved budgets
• Budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis
• Financial and funder reporting
• Supporting compliance with funding requirements
• Accruals, prepayments, journals and balance sheet reconciliations
• Working closely with project leads, budget holders and other non-finance stakeholders
• Supporting audit and year-end requirements
• Providing financial insight and guidance across funded activities

About you

For this position, strong grants, funding and/or research finance experience is particularly important.

You may currently be working as a:

• Management Accountant
• Research Accountant
• Research Finance Officer
• Senior Research Finance Officer
• Grants Accountant
• Grants Finance Officer
• Research Grants Finance professional

ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified candidates are preferred, although strong QBE, part-qualified or finalist accountants with substantial relevant grants/funding experience will also be considered.

Experience within research, higher education, charity, not-for-profit or another grant-funded organisation would be particularly relevant.
