Ace Academics is recruiting an experienced and enthusiastic Maths Lecturer / Functional Skills Maths Tutor to join a well-established Further Education college in Wolverhampton.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Maths Teacher, GCSE Maths Lecturer or Functional Skills Tutor looking to support learners in a professional and supportive FE environment.

The successful candidate will deliver engaging, inclusive and structured Mathematics lessons to post-16 learners and potentially adult students, helping them develop essential numeracy skills and achieve recognised qualifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver high-quality Maths lessons, including GCSE Mathematics and Functional Skills Maths.

• Teach learners across appropriate levels, potentially including Entry Level, Level 1 and Level 2.

• Support students preparing for GCSE Maths examinations and Functional Skills assessments.

• Differentiate teaching approaches to accommodate mixed abilities, learning needs and educational backgrounds.

• Monitor learner progress, provide constructive feedback and maintain accurate assessment records.

• Develop engaging lesson materials that improve mathematical confidence, problem-solving and practical numeracy.

• Maintain a positive, inclusive and supportive classroom environment.

• Contribute to curriculum delivery, student achievement and continuous improvement.

Essential Requirements

• Relevant qualification in Mathematics or a closely related subject.

• Recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE, CertEd, DTLLS, QTS or QTLS, or equivalent relevant teaching experience.

• Experience teaching GCSE Maths, Functional Skills Maths or Mathematics within an educational setting.

• Good understanding of the GCSE Mathematics curriculum and/or Functional Skills Maths qualifications.

• Strong classroom management, communication and organisational skills.

• Ability to support learners with varying levels of mathematical ability.

• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and vulnerable adults.

Desirable Experience

• Previous teaching experience within a Further Education college, sixth form or adult learning provider.

• Experience delivering Pearson Edexcel, AQA or other recognised GCSE Maths specifications.

• Experience supporting GCSE resit learners.

• Experience teaching Functional Skills Mathematics at Level 1 and Level 2.

• Experience working with learners requiring additional learning support.
