This is a 3 month assignment, to start ASAP, based in East London.

  • Job Type: Temporary (3 months minimum)
  • Location: On-campus (minimum 2 days per week)
  • Salary: £21.93 per hour

We are seeking an experienced University Finance staff member to join our team at the Centre for ECRs for a minimum of three months. This role requires someone ideally with university finance experience who can provide robust financial guidance and support across various funding streams. The successful candidate will be supervised by a team member and work closely with the impact team, with an initial focus on campus-based activities.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Provide guidance on terms and conditions, allowable costs, financial planning, and financial regulations.
  • Manage non-UKRI standalone studentships including quarterly invoicing, internal audits, and expenditure reports, and draft final reports for sign-off.
  • Support internal close-down processes on legacy grants using Worktribe and internal systems.
  • Provide financial oversight for various funding streams such as Impact Acceleration Awards (IAA), Higher Education Innovation Funding (HEIF), and Policy Support Fund (PSF).
  • Utilise Agresso and Worktribe systems for costing internal funding streams and processing approvals.
  • Set up projects and budgets, invoice funders, monitor spending, and provide monthly financial reports to management.
  • Manage special project setups, review processes, and propose solutions to gaps.
  • Attend quarterly reconciliation meetings and handle project closures at the end of the lifecycle, supporting audit requests as needed.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a flexible approach to work.
  • Ability to manage own workload and prioritise tasks effectively to meet deadlines.
  • High level of professionalism with extensive experience in pre and post-award administration.
  • Familiarity with university financial systems, preferably Agresso and Worktribe.
  • Experience in financial management within an academic or research environment is highly desirable.
