Apprentice Development Manager
About the role
Here at Babcock International we're looking to recruit an Apprentice Development Manager to join the team working within the Base Services division at Devonport Royal Dockyard. As an Apprentice Development Manager you'll review and assess the competence of apprentices and adult trainees against the approved apprenticeship framework / standard.
Using your substantial knowledge and experience of Marine Engineering environments and required practices and standards you'll be reviewing and assessing Apprentices on-the-job and knowledge competence. You'll monitor progress towards targets, arrange suitable work placements, liaise with colleges and awarding organisations and deal with Apprentice attendance and disciplinary management. You'll also be involved with the recruitment and selection of future apprentices.
What do I need to do the role?
You'll need to have completed a recognised Mechanical and/or Electrical trade based apprenticeship in Marine Engineering and possess a relevant Assessor qualification. An NVQ L3 in Advice & Guidance would be highly desirable.
We would also like you have some or all of the following:
* Substantial experience gained within a Marine Engineering environment
* Previous experience of mentoring apprentices and NVQ assessment
* Working knowledge of MS applications, i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.
* Highly organised with the ability to work on own initiative
Lastly, you'll need to be able to deploy good communication and influencing skills together with the ability to work in a professional and confident manner.
What else do I need to know?
The successful candidate must hold, or be able to achieve the appropriate Security Clearance level for this position.
