What is RSS?
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication and it’s an excellent way to keep up to date with your favourite websites. The main benefit of RSS is that its quicker than revisiting a site several times a day to check for updates, and rather than having to look for new headlines, feed readers scan for updates and display them for you. So it’s a proactive way for you to receive the latest job vacancies direct to your desktop
How can I use RSS or Receive RSS Feeds?
To read and receive RSS feeds you will need some RSS reader software. We have displayed My Google, My AOL, My Yahoo as web based readers, Flurry as a RSS reader for a mobile phone or you could also use desktop applications such as Feed demon to receive RSS feeds direct to your desktop (http://www.newsgator.com/Individuals/FeedDemon/Default.aspx)
If you click on the RSS icon or link you can subscribe to the feed in various ways, including by dragging the URL of the feed into your RSS reader or by cutting and pasting the same URL into a new feed in your news reader. Most sites that offer feeds use a similar orange button, but some may just have a normal web link. If you click on the My Google, My Yahoo, My AOL icon’s you will be taken through a simple registration process to receive these selected feeds on your web browser. Some browsers, including Firefox, Opera and Safari, Internet Explorer7 automatically check for feeds for you when you visit a website, and display an icon when they find one.
